Grace Kids

Grace Kids is the Children’s Ministry Program and encompasses a variety of activities, lessons and opportunities for children ages Birth – 5th grade to get involved in. We believe in helping children to understand the plan of salvation through Jesus so that they may share His plan with others. Our goal is to help kids understand the Bible by presenting it in ways they can understand through creative lessons, music, games and crafts. Our ministry is designed to help children develop an age appropriate understanding of Christ, in a loving, caring and fun environment. Children are encouraged to grow in their faith and love for Christ, as an individual, with their family and friends, and sharing it with those in their community. Curriculum, programs and activities connect students to the church core values; WORD IS THE FILTER, LOVES SHAPES CHARACTER, PRAY AT ALL TIMES and GO TO GROW.

Mission: “To lay the foundation that inspires children and their parents to grow, follow, and love Jesus.”

Student Tagline: “Grounded In Grace and Growing In Truth.”

Our nursery is located down the hall from our sanctuary but still very close. You can drop off your precious ones and know that they’re being loved and cared for. Your babies will be safe, loved, and will develop in an environment that is warm and welcoming.

Our preschoolers are in classes based on age, 2 & 3 year olds in one class and 4 & 5 year olds in the other. These classes are designed to be a cheerful, joyful learning experience from the moment they enter the door.

Children grades kindergarten through 3rd grade meet in Room #118. Children 4th-5th grade meet in the Sanctuary for worship and then head to Room #120 for class time. 4th-5th graders attend service typically once a month on the 4th Sunday. K-5th graders all attend service on the months with 5 Sundays.

Children will worship God and study the Bible together. During class they will learn in an interactive environment specifically structured for their grade level. Children will learn in creative and structured lessons taught using a variety of methods so that every young learner can engage and participate.

  • All of our volunteers have been through a background check and assigned to the classroom based on size and needs.
  • We use Planning Center for check-in for all programs.  Kids will receive a name tag, and parent(s) will receive a corresponding security tag to present when picking up.  Only family members can pick up children unless an arrangement has been made and communicated with the teacher or Director of Children’s Ministry. Family members must be 16 years or older. Children are not allowed to check in or out on their own.
  • Check-in for programs can be done at one of the kiosks.  Pre-check-in can be done from your phone through the ChurchCenter app.
  • Children with symptoms of illness are not permitted in our rooms. We follow a health policy similar to that of the school district, and it is posted in all classrooms.
  • The classroom and toys are cleaned after each use.
  • Pagers are used to communicate with parents with children in the Nursery. For other classrooms, walkie-talkies are used to communicate, and Parents will be notified if there is a medical or behavioral emergency. Teachers and the Director will try to address all concerns before pulling a parent from service or class.
  • Personal items should be left at home, except items needed for children in the nursery or preschool program. Please make sure all items are labeled, such as diaper bags. Children are encouraged to bring a bible to class when parents feel it is appropriate. Bibles are available in the classrooms.
  • There is a play area for children outside of the Preschool/Nursery wing. This may be used before or after service/program but only under adult supervision.
  • If new or visiting, please check in at the classroom based on age. Teachers will guide you through the check-in procedures and ask you to fill out a form.

We know that for families with a child with special needs, one of the biggest challenges is finding time to nurture your own faith. We want to come alongside families and all of their children, recognizing that every child is created in God’s image with a special purpose and plan for his/her life. Whatever the diagnosis, we want to make sure your child can learn about Jesus in an age and developmentally-appropriate way. As needed volunteers are assigned to partner with kids who need extra help participating and we will work with you to custom design a ministry plan for your child.

Contact Mary Anne at maschmidt@gpmail.church to schedule a time to meet or to answer any questions.

We are so excited you’ve chosen to explore being involved with Grace Kids! You make a big difference in the lives of children simply by choosing to invest in their spiritual journey. Kids are asking big questions as they are seeking their own personal relationship with Christ. So, let’s celebrate them, their development, and their spiritual journey.

Opportunities exist working directly with children on Sunday Mornings, Awana on Sunday Nights, and other special events/services throughout the year.
